South San Francisco BART
Construction of a new cell site on existing Bay Area Rapid Transit parking garage. Finished site includes a new monopole and antenna system mounted on the upper deck of the parking structure. New light-weight concrete was tied into existing structure in customer’s lease area to allow for attachment of the monopole and equipment safely over the existing post-tension structure decking.
Portions of this build included new power and telephone utility runs from northern end of BART property approximately 1200 feet to the top deck of the parking structure on the property's south end. BART construction and safety standards were met during all phases of construction. Coordination between various public agencies including the San Francisco Public Utility Commission, Pacific Gas & Electric and BART was necessary to bring this job to a successful conclusion without once affecting operations on the BART system.
This site was completed on time for inclusion in the customer’s 2010 fourth quarter network expansion system.
Station # 48 Treasure Island
This site was constructed on Treasure Island, which had been recently annexed by the City of San Francisco. Construction consisted of an antenna array disguised as a fully functional flag pole and adjacent equipment pad with perimeter fencing.
The build required the handling and removal of hazardous ground water in the monopole foundation pier, requiring the use of Baker Tanks on-site for temporary storage until the groundwater could be transported to an approved hazardous material facility for disposal. Environmental oversight was present during all phases of construction with risk of hazardous material exposure, and proper use of personal protection safeguards was required by all construction personnel. Documentation was kept at all stages of the disposal process, eliminating any future liability for our client and ourselves should any environmental concerns be raised in the future.
Due to the recent annexing of the property, construction of this site was complicated by the myriad of jurisdictional agencies involved, including; the City of San Francisco and its Department of Building and Inspection, the newly formed Yerba Buena Development Agency, Hetch Hetchy Power and the United States Navy.
Site construction progressed during the winter of 2010, despite unfavorable weather conditions and bureaucratic obstacles, and upon completion was delivered ahead of schedule to our customer for inclusion in their network.
The customer requested the use of photos of this finished site for inclusion in their promotional materials.
